literary sophistry

should I malinger
with j.d. salinger?
should I agree
with harper lee?
should I set my eye
on the catcher in the rye?
or should I be lured
to kill a mocking bird?
I know that it’s nice
that the postman only rings twice.
james hadley chase
is a novelist ace.
and if if i've gotta come clean,
my favorite is alistair maclean:
the way to dusty death
still takes away my breath.
i learned my legal lesson
from my beloved perry mason.
but most of all, what still charms
is a farewll to arms.
ernest hemmingway,
i'll remember that tome to my dying day.
i feel naughty today.

at last

here's a break at last, that too, a good one! i forced a meeting with my supervisor, and the result: work. of the nice kind: to research on instructional design forum sites and identify features, tools, navigability etc. to be incorporated in our own in-house id forum. even got a plan. and this is a logged project, so i'm earning my keep. isn't that great!

inertial blogging

take this. what does a guy do when he has nothing to do for days on end? escalate, right? well, i'm just back from escalating like crazy. and the net result: zilch. zero. nada. still nothing doing. ennui and inertia are fighting for my mindspace - what difference which wins! so what else, blog, blloooog, and blllooooooogggg again! blog till i drop dead!! (or get something to do)

morning calls

i slept late last night - in fact, early today morning.
slept well. woke up refreshed. on my own biological alarm.
sunlight. i can hear a distant koel calling.
bathed in hot water. feel wonderfully warm.
dressed for work. looking good. feeling great.
bus is on time. crowded, but better than autos at any rate.
reached office well before time. already logged in.
first thing that came to mind, and i'm blogged in.
life has had its tragedies, but still, i feel good.
done the right things, as well as i could.
what more can i expect?
you called.
life is perfect.

perpetuity

somewhere out there, they all gather. and wait for us. for ours too will be the journey. only, we know not our destiny.

but even that will not be the end: just as stars are born, and as they burn bright. and then, as they fade away. only to become something else.

consider this. when the abstraction that is time itself has a beginning and an end, what kind of earthly reign do we expect, we who are but insignificant, redundant accidents in that selfsame, bounded entity?

coming and going

all life is a coming and a going. when we lose what we have, someone somewhere finds it, and may be happy - or atleast, richer - for it. similarly, when we find or receive something unexpected, or even what we expected, someone somewhere must have lost a part of themselves.
such is the commerce of life: mountains constantly erode, only to become dust and add to matter elsewhere. water evaporates, only to precipitate as rain, snow, or hail somewhere else.
always, one's loss is someone else's.gain. god gave. we were blessed. and one day, god will take away. and we will be sad.

but god only smiles when he takes back what he had given. after all, one's only going home!

do not disillusion

sometimes life goes crazy.
head over heels.
(or is it head over tail?)
or just plain confused?
i know you feel used.
just understand i'll never fail
the someone who feels
the way you feel about me.
